“Or know ye not, that your body is a shrine of the Holy Spirit that is within you, which ye have from God? And ye are not your own; For ye have been born with price! Therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
We should know that, if we be true believers, our bodies through their union to Jesus, are a sacred dwelling of God the Holy Spirit. Who is freely and divinely bestowed upon us, in which His Person dwells, and we are not our own property to do with as we please. But we were redeemed from the curse of the law, from sin, satan, and everlasting ruin. We were purchased for the service and enjoyment of God, by the Blood of His Son.
Let us therefore labour through grace, to yield our bodies, as well as our souls, as instruments of righteousness to God, that we may never dishonour His peculiar property. But, in all things let us obey and glorify Him with that which He has created, preserved, redeemed, and sanctified.
Even before the foundation of the earth was laid, God desired to have a righteous, holy, separated people who would love and serve Him. “According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. (Ephesians 1:4)
We have been set apart for God in order to reflect His purity. God desired to have a people, sons who would be made in His Image, who would reflect His purity, His glory, all that He has and is. This holiness was not to be our own holiness. It is God’s Holiness dwelling within us. God moulding man into His own image of righteousness and holiness. “The God that made the world and all things that are therein, the same, being Sovereign of heaven and earth, not in hand-made shrines doth dwell, Nor by human hands is waited upon, as though in want of anything, Himself giving unto all life, and breath and all things.”(Acts 17:24,25)
From the beginning of the world, God planned and purposed to have a people, sons who would be holy, set apart and blameless, free from blemish just as His Son, Jesus, was “without blemish and without spot”!
Jesus’ ultimate intention for the Church, when He gave Himself for us, was that He would be able to present us as “a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27)
Jesus our Messiah is saying to us that He has already done everything for us. We are indeed made new, and restored, the receipt hangs on the cross. God claimed back our bodies that He made and gave us when He was sacrificed. He restored them for their true purpose!
You and I are the priests in our bodies which is His Temple, and not anybody else is responsible for this Temple before The All-Powerful and Holy God.
Jesus is coming for those who are holy, set apart, blameless, without spot or wrinkle.
We must not be deceived by satan’s lies. We know that God requires us to be holy, even as He is Holy (1 Peter 1:16); and “Peace be pursuing with all, and the obtaining of holiness, without which no one shall see God ” (Hebrews 12:14)
Just as God was with Jesus, so He is with us. God has placed His Spirit within you. He dwells in you! Can you see that God is with you? That God is in you? That Jesus, The Almighty Son of God, is in you and that He has promised never to leave you, nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) Can you see that You are His Temple!
